The Crampon is a charming hotel run by sisters Lorenza and Alessia Di Addario, of the Grivel family, who have a rich history in the region.
The Grivels were the local blacksmiths, starting with agricultural tools and moving on to mountaineering equipment. They are credited with inventing the first 10-point crampon, and many of the family went into careers as climbers and guides. Grivel is still a big name in mountaineering equipment.
The Hotel Crampon was opened in 1971. Continuously renovated, it offers a warm atmosphere that blends modernity with tradition. The Crampon is at 8 Strada La Villette, a quiet side street off the pedestrian area in Courmayeur. Shops, bars, and restaurants are a short walk away.
