A Summer Getaway in the Waldviertel
Messern is a small village about 15 kilometers west of Horn, at an elevation of approximately 500 meters. The stone-walled house, which is more than 200 years old, is situated just below the village church of St. Jakobus and features a 2,000 m² fully fenced garden. The church tower next door rings the Angelus three times a day and strikes the hour every quarter hour. While the house is located in a quiet little village, it is not in complete seclusion and silence.
In the summer, the old house truly shines as a summer retreat: the solid stone walls, the windows newly installed in 2026, and the surrounding forests, meadows, and bodies of water ensure a pleasant summer retreat both inside the house and in the garden, even on hot days.
Thanks to the carpet-free floors inside the house and the fully fenced-in garden, the house is well-suited for guests with dogs. As a dog owner, you are therefore welcome to rent the house. However, we expect that upon your departure, there will be no traces of the dogs’ stay left behind, either in the house or in the garden. Otherwise, we will no longer be able to offer this option.
The house has three bedrooms and can accommodate two to six adults. The ideal occupancy is four people.
