Monte Leone hut

Der Monte Leone ist bekannt als höchster, vergletscherter Gipfel östlich des Simplonpass. Nahe der Landesgrenze und am Fusse des Wasenhorns steht der langgezogene Steinbau, einst eine Armeeunterkunft für die Grenztruppen. Blick von der Hütte über den Chaltwassergletscher, an dessen Ende türkisfarbene Gletscherseen und der Klettergarten liegen. Etwas oberhalb der Hütte unerwartetes Panorama gegen Westen und Tiefblick zur italienischen Alpe Veglia.
