The area called Alkula was first actively used in the 1770s by the prosperous merchant and entrepreneur, Abraham Falander. A.A. Levon bought the property in 1847, and began to develop it, for instance opening a steam mill here. Today, the property serves as base for Vaasa region’s 4H clubs, who also take responsibility for maintaining the historical garden.
