The square was opened in 2007 at the entrance to the Bode Valley and is located in the heart of Thale's old town.

It is located opposite the monastery on an island surrounded by the River Bode and a tributary. There is a football and volleyball court on the grounds. Nearby are the Bodetal hiking paradise, Devil's Wall, historic towns of Wernigerode and Quedlinburg, Hexentanzplatz, mountain theatre, zoo, Thale cable cars.
