Refuge du Schneeberg

A small shelter with a superb view of Wangenbourg-Engenthal. Inside, there’s a fireplace where you can grill food, along with a table and benches. Upstairs, there’s a basic dormitory (bring a sleeping bag). Open year-round with free access. No reservations accepted! In summer, due to limited space, you may have to sleep under the stars.
Update July 2026: The shelter’s chimney will be bricked up to prevent potential fires and improve comfort for visitors, who often complain about poor draft in winter and, consequently, a lot of smoke inside the shelter.
