Municipality of Metnitz

Metnitz is located in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia and, with around 1,868 inhabitants (as of 2023), is one of the largest municipalities in Carinthia in terms of area: approx. 223 km² at an altitude of around 851 m. Geographically, the municipality stretches across the Metnitz Valley and the neighboring Gurktal Alps with altitudes of over 2,100 m. It consists of four cadastral municipalities (Metnitz Markt, Metnitz Land, Feistritz, Grades) and comprises a total of 22 villages. Leisure activities and nature can be enjoyed particularly along hiking trails in the unspoilt Metnitz Valley, biotope and herb tours, a natural swimming pond and traditional associations such as the historic rifle corps
