Mount Ramaceto Loop in the Aveto Park

The starting point is the parking lot in front of the village of Ventarola. You cross the characteristic village and, past a small ford or the adjacent bridge, take the mule track following the A6 signs and the yellow triangle symbol. From Bocca di Feia, the trail joins the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri and continues southward along the ridge. With gradually steeper slopes, you reach the scenic southwest peak of Mount Ramaceto (1318 m, about 2 hours from Ventarola), where there is a stone chapel with a statue of the Madonna. A stop is recommended to enjoy the splendid view. The loop trail continues with slight ups and downs along the ridge, following the Alta Via and the A6 and two blue circle markings. Although the trail has no exposed sections, it crosses the steep southern wall, requiring attention on some uneven sections.The descent becomes more pronounced in a northwesterly direction, until it reaches the watershed between the Sturla and Aveto valleys. Here, you leave the Alta Via and abruptly turn left, following the signs for Ventarola. The well-trodden path leads to a dirt road that you follow downhill to the Crocetta d'Acero Pass. Finally, you leave the Alta Via to descend to the Crocetta d'Acero Pass, from which you return to the starting point.In Ventarola, possibility of overnight stay at the refuge of the same name, equipped with kitchen use. In the villages of Cabanne, Rezzoaglio and Borzonasca presence of accommodations, bars and restaurants.

Be careful on windy days especially on ridge areas. In winter with cold temperatures, possibility of ice: be careful. Always consult the weather forecast before embarking on the trail.Possible sections of trail obstructed by the presence of vegetation. Take special care in sections that have not been mowed recently.

Recommended equipment
To tackle this route safely, it is essential to equip yourself properly. The route is in a mountainous environment, so the following are essential:
- hiking shoes and technical layered clothing that can adapt to sudden changes in temperature;
- sufficient food and water reserve for the entire day;
- charged cell phone and, preferably, a power bank for additional recharges;
- safety kit a whistle, a survival tarp and a first aid kit;
- for orientation, it is advisable not to rely solely on signposts and to have maps of the route available, in paper and digital versions, useful in low visibility or foggy conditions.
