What is a "Waypoint"?
Use waypoints to mark notable places or tricky turns along a route and add detailed information about them. Choose from four waypoint symbols to show which direction the route continues or to indicate that the waypoint marks a special place along the route.
How to create a waypoint:
Using the Route Planner
- Select a set point (e.g. “D“) along the route in the Route Planner.
- Information will appear showing the geodata of the point. Select “Create waypoint“.
- A window opens in which you can add a title for the waypoint, assign it one of the symbols and provide a description.
- Select “Save“ to finish creating your waypoint.
- The point will now be displayed with its accompanying symbol.
Good to know
- Waypoints are always directly linked to the route.
- When the route is published, the waypoints become visible to all community members.
- A point can also have the category “waypoint” just like “mountain hut” or “viewpoint,” but that is not the same as a waypoint linked to the route.
- Please note that waypoints cannot be viewed during navigation.
