Current Conditions

Current Conditions provide valuable information about what to expect out on a route—for example, the current state of bike paths and hiking trails. Any platform user can post them, giving everyone a helpful resource for planning routes that are both safe and efficient.

What are Current Conditions?

Current Conditions let you share up-to-date information about what's happening on a route with other users. Any platform user can post them—whether you have a Business Account or are a community member. Current Conditions stay visible for 2 weeks and are then automatically archived. As a Business user, you add Current Conditions through the Community Manager, available starting with a Basic Business Account.

Example: "After several days of steady rain, the trail on the south side of Alpsee Lake is very slippery."

Creating Current Conditions

Current Conditions can be created and published by Outdooractive staff, partners, and community members. They provide valuable guidance for all users when planning their activities.
In My Business, you can add Current Conditions directly to the routes, POIs, or ski resorts they apply to. Just navigate to the relevant content in the Content Manager, open the "Current conditions" tab, and click the green "Create condition" button. This opens an entry form where you can fill in all the necessary details. Once you save your entry, it will appear alongside the content on the frontend.
Current Conditions can also be created independently of existing content and placed directly on the map. To do this, navigate to "Conditions" within the Community Manager and click the "Create condition" button in the top right.

When creating an entry, please keep the following in mind:

  • Enter the date of the observation. Set the relevant activity (e.g., hiking, mountain biking, ski touring).
  • The entry can only be found via the sport filters if an activity is assigned.
Independent of existing content
View in the Content Manager
Create Current Conditions independently of specific content.
Current Conditions are displayed on the platform for 14 days by default. After that, they're marked as "no longer current" but can still be found using the time filter and search function. Entries aren't deleted—they're archived.

Linking Current Conditions

You can link an existing Current Condition to existing routes and POIs in just a few clicks. Open the condition's detail view, go to the "Linked Content" tab, and add the desired IDs there. This connection can't be created from the route or POI side.

Good to know: Notices and Closures

Notices and Closures are conceptually similar to Current Conditions. These are entered by an official source (such as a DMO or protected area authority) to inform community users about closed trails or areas and any corresponding detours.
