How do I connect with Garmin?
A Garmin Connect account is required for the connection. Garmin Connect is also needed to transfer shared routes to your devices.
- Go to Settings via the gear icon on “My Page.”→ Under “Connected Services,” you’ll find the option to link your Garmin account.
- To set up the connection, select “Connect.”→ You’ll then be redirected to Garmin and asked to enter your login details. After logging in successfully, you’ll be taken back to the settings page.
- In Settings, you can temporarily pause the import of recorded tracks and the transfer of routes. Both options are enabled by default — meaning all tracks you record with Garmin are automatically imported when an active connection exists. These activities are imported as tracks; the type of activity is either retained or, by default, set to “Hike.” You can edit the activity type afterwards.
- Routes created while the connection is active are transferred to Garmin if the route‑transfer option is enabled. This also applies to unpublished routes. You can also transfer routes created by others to Garmin — either via the website or the app — by using the “Send to Device” function.Transferred routes will appear in the Garmin Connect menu under “Training” → “Courses.”
- In Settings, you also have the option to completely disconnect from Garmin.
- First, open Settings via the hamburger menu.
- Under “Connected Services,” you’ll find the option to link your Garmin account.
- All further steps are the same as in the web version (see above).
- If you connect multiple partner accounts to Outdooractive, shared content may be synchronized multiple times, appearing more than once in Outdooractive and/or in your partner account.
- Use the connection configuration in Outdooractive to prevent this.→ For example, deactivate the import of recorded tracks from a partner app if it’s also connected to Garmin and Garmin track import is already active.
- Note that not every Garmin device can receive routes.→ Here’s a list of compatible devices.
