Le col du Pigeonnier (en alsacien Scherhol) se situe sur la D 3 et culmine à 432 m d'altitude entre Wissembourg et Climbach dans les Vosges du Nord, dans le Bas-Rhin. La route passe entre les sommets de la Scherhol (507 m d'altitude), sur lequel était implanté jusqu'à la Seconde Guerre mondiale une tour du Club vosgien, et l'Eselsberg (485 m d'altitude)

 Der Col du Pigeonnier (im elsässischen Scherhol) liegt an der D 3 und gipfelt auf 432 m Höhe zwischen Wissembourg und Climbach in den Vogesen du Nord, im Bas-Rhin. Die Route verläuft zwischen den Gipfeln des Scherhols (507 m ü.d.M.), auf dem bis zum Zweiten Weltkrieg ein Turm des Vogesenklubs errichtet wurde, und dem Eselsberg (485 m ü.d.M.).

La route du col du Pigeonnier a été construite par l'armée royale française de 1750 à 1752 pour des raisons militaires et stratégiques. En effet, après la signature du traité de Rastatt, la route existante depuis le haut Moyen Âge qui passait par le col du Litschhof avant de rejoindre la vallée de Lauter à Niederschlentenbach se situait pour partie en territoire étranger. Les plans d'époque sont consultables aux archives départementales du Bas-Rhin.Dans les années 1960-1970, une course de côte auto et moto était organisée entre la sortie de Wissembourg et le sommet du col du Pigeonnier. Cette manifestation rassemblait de nombreux concurrents et plusieurs milliers de spectateurs.

Der Col du Pigeonnier wurde von 1750 bis 1752 von der französischen Königlichen Armee aus militärischen und strategischen Gründen gebaut. Nach der Unterzeichnung des Vertrags von Rastatt befand sich die seit dem frühen Mittelalter bestehende Straße, die über den Litschhofpass bis zur Einmündung in das Lautertal bei Niederschlentenbach führte, zum Teil im Ausland. Die Zeitpläne können im Departementsarchiv von Bas-Rhin eingesehen werden.In den Jahren 1960-1970 wurde zwischen dem Ausgang von Wissembourg und dem Gipfel des Col du Pigeonnier ein Rennen von Autos und Motorrädern organisiert. Diese Veranstaltung brachte viele Teilnehmer und mehrere tausend Zuschauer zusammen.
