Die Vordere Flatschbergalm liegt auf rund 1900 m im Flatschbergtal. Das Hochtal zweigt bei St. Gertraud vom Ultental nach Norden ab und wird vom Flatschbergbach durchflossen.
Von den Flatschhöfen oberhalb St. Gertrauds kann die Almhütte in rund einer halben Stunde erwandert werden und lädt mit hausgemachten Spezialitäten aus dem Ultental wie Brot, Würsten und Käse zur Einkehr ein. Im Juli und August ziehen die Betreiber mit dem Vieh auf die höhergelegene Hintere Flatschbergalm, welche in diesem Zeitraum stattdessen bewirtschaftet wird.
