The former royal hunting lodge was built in 1835 by King Maximilian II, the father of the later "Fairy Tale King" Ludwig II. The newly renovated hut invites its guests not only to enjoy a cozy retreat, but also to linger on the terrace. From the interior of the hut, you can enjoy views of the Säuling and the surrounding area through panoramic windows.
You can reach the hut on foot via the Schutzengelweg (approximately 2.5 hours from the Tegelberg valley station). Alternatively, you can take the Tegelbergbahn to the mountain and walk five minutes to the hut from the mountain station.
Overnight stays in the hut will be possible again starting in 2026.
