The Sommeiller Pass Bivouac is a small jewel set in the mountains at 3,009 meters above sea level, overlooking a charming little alpine lake.

Inside is a small museum dedicated to Edoardo Allemand, which tells the story of the Sommeiller glacier and the period when an alpine ski center was opened: summer skiing was practiced here until the mid-1980s.

Directions

By car:

- Highway A32 Turin - Bardonecchia, exit Bardonecchia

- State road 24: Turin - Oulx and then state road 335: Oulx - Bardonecchia

Once you reach Bardonecchia, take the provincial road 235 that enters the Rochemolles Valley and follow it for 6 km until you reach the hamlet of Rochemolles. Up to here the road is a bit narrow but all paved, after that it becomes unpaved. Continue along the winding road for about 5 km until you reach Rochemolles Dam. Proceed for another 4 km to reach the Scarfiotti Refuge. Continuing further, the road becomes passable only more by off-road vehicles or enduro bikes. After 11 km you will reach the Sommeiller Pass.
