The Sewenhütte of the SAC Pfannenstiel is located at 2150 m above the Meiental valley in Uri near Wassen. The mountain hut serves as a base for hikes, climbs and alpine tours.
The Sewenhütte is a mountain hut run by the Pfannenstiel section of the Swiss Alpine Club and is situated at 2150 m on a sunny terrace high above the Meiental valley near Wassen in the canton of Uri. From the hut you can see the Fleckistock, Stucklistock, the Fünffingerstöcke and the Wendenhorn. It is usually manned from the beginning of June to mid-October and is particularly suitable for families thanks to the dwarf trails on both access routes. The hut offers half board, drinks and simple meals, so that day guests can also stop for a bite to eat. The classic approach starts at Gorezmettlenbach on the Sustenpass road at around 1613 m and takes around 1.5 hours via Gitzichrummenflue to the hut; a slightly longer alternative runs via Alp Rieter and past Lake Sewen. In winter, the winter room remains open and serves as a starting point for ski tours and snowshoe tours, for example on the Bächenstock. The current hut was built in 1970, destroyed by an avalanche in 1973, rebuilt in 1974 and extensively renovated in 2006. It is owned by the Pfannenstiel SAC section.
