Der CAI Sektion Cuneo hat am 10. September 1961 die Hütte eingeweiht und mit dem Namen des Cuneo-Kletterers Edoardo (Dado) Soria verbunden.
1979 renoviert, wurde der Name von Edoardo Soria um den eines anderen großen Kletterers von Cuneo Gianni Ellena ergänzt, der mit Soria zahlreiche Erstbesteigungen im Seealpenpark durchführte und dokumentierte. Einschließlich der Erstebesteigung der Corno Stella zwischen 1929 und 1932.
