La cucina, semplice ma molto varia, è una delle tante attrazioni del rifugio. Si possono degustare molti piatti della tradizione sappadina. Il profumo della polenta, cucinata naturalmente sulla stufa a legna, stuzzica già da lontano l’appetito dei nostri golosi visitatori.
I dolci, rigorosamente fatti in casa, spaziano tra aromi e sapori che riportano alla genuinità della vita d’un tempo. Tra le specialità della casa troviamo l’ampia scelta delle grappe di nostra produzione, con erbe e profumi della nostra zona. In particolare la rinomata P38, la cui ricetta rimane segreta.
Il Rifugio è un comodo punto d’appoggio per gli escursionisti, gli appassionati del free climbing, gli amanti della natura ma anche per chi volesse affrontare una gita alla scoperta dei luoghi della Grande Guerra (gallerie, fortini, postazioni). Localizzato al confine Italo-Austriaco, il Rifugio è una delle possibili tappe della famosa Traversata Carnica, che passando proprio alle pendici del Monte Peralba, collega San Candido con Tarvisio. Il panorama mozzafiato che si può ammirare dal Rifugio è spesso oggetto di foto e riprese dei frequentatori.

Da Cima Sappada in auto, lasciando quest’ultima nell’ampio parcheggio nei pressi del bivio per le Sorgenti del Piave e affrontando poi una semplice salita di circa un’ora lungo la comoda strada sterrata oppure percorrendo il sentiero attrezzato della Grande Guerra.
