The Re Magi hut is located among the Grange huts of Valle Stretta and is named after the Re Magi mountain group, with Baldassarre Peak (3156 m) towering above it.
The refuge, which was formerly a hunting lodge, was purchased in 1923 by the CAI-UGET section of Turin and has undergone many vicissitudes: in 1927 it was uncovered by a blizzard and in 1942 half-destroyed by a fire due to wartime events.
It was later sold to private individuals, Mr. Renato and Mrs. Rosalba Nervo, who rebuilt it respecting the original design, and the facade bears the inscription "formerly UGET refuge."
The hut has two dining rooms, a small bar room with a fireplace, a large dehors, 8 rooms and 1 dormitory for a total capacity of 35 beds, shared toilets and hot showers on the floor, a storage room for skis and boots, and a garage for mountain bikes. Linens are not provided. Use of a sack-sheet is recommended.
The refuge's cuisine includes simple, wholesome ingredients. You can taste typical Piedmontese and Italian recipes.
