Restaurant Rifugio Saoseo

The Saleinaz hut (Cabane de Saleinaz CAS) is located at 2691 m on the edge of the Saleina glacier between Val Ferret and the Trient glacier plateau in the canton of Valais. The hut belongs to the Neuchâteloise section of the Swiss Alpine Club and is run by club members, which gives it a personal, unpretentious atmosphere. It is manned during the summer season, typically from June to September, and for a few weeks in spring; outside these periods, a winter room is open. It is the destination of a long day hike, a stage base on the Haute Route and the starting point for high-altitude tours to Aiguille d'Argentière, Aiguille du Chardonnet, the Aiguilles Dorées or the Grande Lui. The normal ascent begins in Praz-de-Fort in Val Ferret and takes around four to five hours over moraines, scree and rocky passages secured with iron steps and chains to the hut; in winter, the only way up is via surrounding glacier passes such as Col du Chardonnet or Fenêtre de Saleina. The hut offers half board with dinner, breakfast and tea on the march as well as simple meals and drinks and also serves as a base for ski tours in winter and spring.
