Rooms
The Refuge des Drayères offers a total of around 64 beds in dormitories with small rooms of 4, 6 and 8 beds, which is particularly convenient for families and groups. The dormitories are equipped with blankets and comforter covers, but guests are advised to bring their own sleeping bag, and booking - ideally with half-board - is compulsory during the period when the hut is open. The hut has a large, bright dining room with a view of the valley, a separate lounge with a library and games and a drying room for wet equipment. There are indoor toilets and showers for a fee, which usually offer hot water, depending on energy reserves. Electricity and heating are available in the serviced season, and there are also power sockets and WLAN. A simple winter room with several camps is available outside of the serviced season; the facilities there are reduced, with dry outdoor toilets and no water, gas or heating, so full winter equipment is required. In the evenings, there is a fixed night's rest with lights out so that everyone gets enough sleep and energy is saved.Food and drink
The kitchen prepares simple, hearty French mountain hut fare using mainly local or organic ingredients, much of it homemade. At lunchtime, guests can enjoy hot dishes, soups, snacks and cakes on the terrace or in the parlor; the team will prepare packed lunches for tours the next day if ordered in advance.Sleeping beds

Public transport
The easiest way to get there is by train to Briançon or via Italy to Bardonecchia, from where you can take a regional bus to the Clarée valley. In the high season, there is a local shuttle service to Névache and in summer further into the Haute Vallée to near the Laval parking lot, from where you can access the Refuge.Get Timetable to destination
Directions
The classic summer starting point is the Laval parking lot at the head of the Clarée valley above Névache; from there, a marked path or lane leads to the Refuge des Drayères in about an hour's leisurely hike. Alternatively, you can start in the village of Névache at an altitude of around 1600 m and follow the valley on paths along the Clarée via several hamlets and the Laval plateau, for which you should plan around four to four and a half hours and around 600 meters in altitude. In winter, the approach usually starts in Névache Ville-Haute or at the Bonnenuit parking lot, where you can reach the hut site in three to four hours on the snow-covered valley road or on marked routes on skis or snowshoes.Parking
There is no access road or parking directly at the Refuge des Drayères; access is always on foot, on skis or with snowshoes. In summer, take the car or the valley shuttle line to Névache and continue along the high road to the official parking lots of Laval in the upper Clarée valley or Plan Lachat on the Valloire side, from where the footpath to the refuge begins. In the winter season, the road into the Haute Vallée is closed; then use the larger parking areas in Névache or at the Bonnenuit parking lot and follow the prepared valley route or marked winter paths up towards Laval and on to the refuge.Coordinates
