The Refuge de Tagnarède is located at around 1050 m in the Massif des Albères near Sorède, directly on the GR10 and HRP. The simple, unattended CAF hut offers around 12 beds.
The Refuge de Tagnarède is a simple self-catering hut in the Massif des Albères, in the municipality of Sorède in the eastern Pyrenees. It is located at around 1052 m directly on the French-Spanish border ridge near Puig Neulós and was built in 2003 by the Club Alpin Français (FFCAM), which still runs the hut today. The unattended base is mainly used as a stage on the Traversée des Albères, the GR 10 and the Haute Route Pyrénéenne. There is no catering, you have to bring your own food. Inside, there is a table with benches and a large wooden bunk bed for around twelve people, which can be heated by the fireplace if required. Drinking water can be obtained from the spring of the same name a few minutes' walk below the hut, which is why suitable water treatment is recommended. Access is on foot via the marked long-distance hiking trails from Laroque-des-Albères or Sorède; in addition, a passable forest road leads to about 50 m below the hut. The main season is from around mid-June to mid-September, but the hut is used all year round as a simple place to spend the night and rest on the ridge. Before each tour, you should carefully check the current trail conditions, possible closures and weather developments.

Rooms

The hut essentially consists of a room with a large, two-tiered wooden plank bed for around twelve people and a simple lounge area with a table, benches and a fireplace. It is unattended and usually unlocked; there is no hut team or service, which is why everyone is responsible for their own sleeping equipment and tidiness. The hut is run by the Club Alpin Français de Perpignan, which maintains it as a simple shelter for hikers on the GR 10 and HRP routes.
