Pian della Nana is an intact and wonderful example of an alpine prairie environment. Here, from the spring thaw until autumn, there is a succession of picturesque blooms: primroses, anemones, gentians, bluebells, negritelle and dozens of other splendid flowers reveal their enchantment to those who walk the mountain paths. Passing from the prairie to the rocky areas, one encounters the tenacious flowers of the cliffs: edelweiss, saxifrage, houseleeks and many more.
The wealth of wildlife is surprising and, with a little attention and a bit of luck, it is possible to enrich the excursions with the thrill of exciting encounters. In spring and summer the Pian della Nana is a bustle of birds busy building their nests among the tufts of grass or among the rocks or raising their offspring, from small ones such as the alpine finch, the whitetail or the rare red redstart. , to the larger ones such as the black grouse or the kestrel, an agile hawk. Even the majestic golden eagle, the queen of the mountain, frequently flies over the prairies in search of prey.Among the most typical fauna of the area there are also the alpine hare and the ermine, two mammals that change the color of their fur during the year to blend in, becoming almost completely white in winter, almost invisible on the snowy expanse. Among foxes, roe deer and chamois, there are really many animals in Pian della Nana; the most frequent encounter, however, is that with the marmot, which in summer, lazily lying at the entrance to the den, sometimes lets itself be approached up to a few steps. In the Pian della Nana area, the characteristics of the geology and the shape of the landscape are so striking and interesting that a special didactic path, equipped with illustrated panels, has been dedicated to them by the Adamello Brenta Natural Park.In the Pian della Nana and Monte Peller area there are 3 different educational itineraries that illustrate the environmental characteristics of the places. These are normal paths along which there are illustrated panels that explain the environmental aspects encountered from time to time. The guided path "Pian della Nana Monte Peller, history of a landscape" completes the circumnavigation of Monte Peller and consists of 4 panels that illustrate the main aspects of the geology and geomorphology (shape of the landscape) of the territory crossed with detailed color plates. The titles of the panels are: harmony of shapes; restless depths; ephemeral sculptures; the circus of the Peller. The “Pian della Nana, fauna and environment” guided trail winds around the Nana hut and is made up of 8 panels grouped into 4 tables. The titles of the panels are: the ecosystem of the pasture; alpine pastures, cows, milk and cheese; the secret paths of water - karst; insects and other small grassland animals; Golden eagle and kestrel; birds of the Alpe Nana; alpine hare and ermine; the marmot. The guided path "I Fiori del Peller" leads to the discovery of the extraordinary richness of the plant world of this mountain.
