The Linard Hut (Chamonna dal Linard) is located at 2327 m above Lavin in the Silvretta region. The SAC hut is the starting point for tours to Piz Linard and hikes to the Glimsee lakes.
The Linardhütte, or Chamonna dal Linard in Romansh, is an SAC hut belonging to the Engiadina Bassa section and is located at 2327 m in the Glims hollow northwest of Lavin in the Lower Engadine. The small stone hut towers high above the Inntal valley between a mountain stream and an old moraine ridge, directly below the striking Piz Linard, the highest peak in the Silvretta group. It was built in 1902 and is the oldest SAC hut in the Lower Engadine. In summer, the hut is staffed continuously from the beginning of July to mid-September by volunteer teams from the section, and from mid-September to around the third week of October at weekends; outside of this period, it is open as a simple self-catering hut. From Lavin or Sagliains train station, a marked mountain trail leads through the God Laret larch forest and over the Plan dal Bügl to the hut in around 2½ hours and around 900 meters in altitude; some sections are secured with chains. A longer approach runs from the Vereina mountain hut over the Vereina Pass and the Fuorcla da Glims in around 5 hours and around 1100 meters in altitude. The hut serves as a base for climbing Piz Linard and for alpine hikes to the Glimseen lakes, into Val Sagliains or on the Vereina circular tour towards Klosters. Ibex, chamois and marmots can often be spotted around the hut. Current conditions, trail closures and the weather forecast should be checked before each tour.

In addition, a shelter with 6 places is available as a winter or emergency room when the hut is unattended and used as a self-catering hut. In summer, the hut is run every week by alternating volunteer teams from the Engiadina Bassa section. Overnight stays are usually reserved by telephone via the hut telephone, dogs are possible on request. The hut has a cozy lounge as well as a washroom and flush toilets. Payment is made exclusively in cash in Swiss francs or euros.

Food and drink

The Linardhütte serves simple, home-style cooking when it is open. Engadine specialties such as nut cake, salsiz, bacon and regional cheese are popular; a half-board menu is usually served in the evening.
