Laval Mill RefugePhoto: Rifugio Mulino di Laval, Val Susa Outdoor
Hiking hut located on the orographic left of the Chisone stream, near the hamlet of Laval. Old mill where rye was ground.
Old mill used to grind rye when the nearby hamlets of Laval, Joussaud, Seytes were still inhabited. The mill remained active, also as a sawmill, until the early postwar period. Located upstream from Pragelato, the "Laval Mill" Refuge (1670 m. asl) is one of the "gateways" to the Val Troncea Natural Park, an authentic alpine paradise also known as the "Valley of the Flowers." It was precisely the and Louis XIV who called it in this way "La Vallée des Fleurs."
The Refuge has an indoor dining room with about 35 seats, but in the summer season the receptivity is expanded by enjoying a comfortable dehors. Home cooking, Piedmontese and strictly local.
The Refuge has four rooms, for a total of 18 beds, run on a bed and breakfast basis.
