Läntahütte

The Länta-Hütte SAC is located at 2090 m in the Valsertal valley in the canton of Graubünden, slightly elevated above the Vals Rhine between the Läntagletscher glacier and Lampertschalp. It belongs to the Bodan section of the Swiss Alpine Club and is a small, simple mountain hut offering accommodation in the Gotthard massif. It is usually open from mid-March to the end of April for the ski touring season and from the end of June to the end of October for hikers, mountaineers and climbers; current dates are communicated by the hut. From Zervreila or the Zerfreila chapel, a well-marked path leads along the reservoir via Lampertschalp in around three hours up to the hut, which can only be reached on foot. The hut team around Barbara and Sebastian Heyerick cook traditional Alpine cuisine with regional products, a small daily menu as well as dinner and breakfast, plus freshly baked wood-fired bread and Vals nut cake. The 33 beds are spread over three dormitories; a sleeping bag is obligatory, and reservations are strongly recommended for overnight stays with half board. The unattended winter room has a basic selection of drinks, crockery and pans, but no cooking facilities, so you must bring your own stove. As the Länta hut is outside the mobile phone network and only has a satellite connection that is susceptible to interference, tours should be planned carefully and conditions, any closures and, above all, the weather forecast should be checked before setting off.
