Rooms
The Glecksteinhütte offers several dormitories, each with around ten to fifteen beds, as well as four smaller comfort rooms with a maximum of four beds, for a total of around eighty beds. All beds are equipped with comforters and pillows, a linen or silk sleeping bag is obligatory; if required, a sleeping bag and towel can be rented. There are shared toilets in the house, a simple mixed-use washroom and the option of a cold shower. The water supply comes from a nearby stream and is filtered and treated for drinking water. Electricity is generated by a small hydroelectric power station, charging batteries is generally possible, but the number of sockets is limited. Slippers and hut shoes are available in the entrance area, as in all SAC huts it is quiet at night from 10 pm, and luggage that is not taken on tour can be deposited in the checkroom. A small, very simple winter room without electricity is available for self-catering outside the summer season; reservations for serviced times such as the winter room are preferably made online or by telephone with the hut team. Mobile phone reception via the Swisscom network is good around the hut, WLAN is deliberately not offered for guests.Food and drink
Most guests book half-board at the Glecksteinhütte, which includes a multi-course dinner with soup, a hearty main course, salad or vegetables, dessert and a rich breakfast buffet with home-baked bread, muesli, alpine cheese and hot drinks; a liter of tea for the next day is included. During the day, the team serves simple, nutritious dishes and sweets, such as the rich Gleckstein rösti with bacon, alpine cheese and fried egg or freshly baked cakes. Most of the cooking is done by hand and, where possible, with products from the region; a particular specialty is rainbow trout from the small hut pond, accompanied by homemade schnapps made from Alpine herbs. Vegetarian wishes and intolerances are catered for by prior arrangement.Sleeping beds

Public transport
By public transport, take the train to Grindelwald and change to the local bus there. The line in the direction of Grosse Scheidegg stops at the Gleckstein junction, from where the marked hut trail starts; alternatively, a bus runs to the Hotel Wetterhorn on the Upper Glacier, which is also a common starting point.Get Timetable to destination
Directions
From the Gleckstein junction, follow the signs through steep meadow slopes and rocky passages to the hut, for which you should plan around two hours forty-five to just under three hours, depending on your fitness level, with an ascent of around 850 meters. If you start at the Oberer Gletscher parking lot or the Hotel Wetterhorn, it takes around three and a half hours, while approaches from Bort, the Pfingsteggbahn or the Grosse Scheidegg take around four hours or more.Parking
Those arriving by car usually park in the large, chargeable Oberer Gletscher parking lot at the Hotel Wetterhorn, where parking for several days is also possible. Alternatively, you can park at the Pfingsteggbahn valley station or in the Grindelwald Terminal parking garage; from there, there is a bus connection to the bus stops on the Upper Glacier and at the Gleckstein turn-off.Coordinates
