The "Federico in Dosdè" refuge is located in Val Dosdè, at an elevation of 2,133 meters above sea level, and has been open to the public since summer 2007.
Since 1995, the Bormio section of the CAI has been renovating the old present hut to use it as a shelter for mountaineers, ski mountaineers and hikers, and little by little, from '95 to the present, thanks mainly to the efforts of volunteers, the CAI has finally succeeded in inaugurating the Refuge. Management was entrusted to the well-known Sondalo mountaineer and mountain guide instructor, Adriano Greco. The objective linked to the opening of the refuge (dedicated to Federico Valgoi, a young mountaineer from Bormio who lost his life climbing in 2002) is the revival of mountaineering in Val Viola and Val Dosdè.

Val Dosdè is among the most beautiful destinations in the municipality of Valdidentro and Alta Valtellina thanks to both its strategic location and its unmissable views, in winter and summer.
You will feel like walking through a postcard, at every glance nature amazes with its wonderful unexpected colors. There are many hiking opportunities starting right from the Refuge, and there are many paths leading to smaller valleys, accessible to all. Arriving at the top of the Dosdè valley, you'll come across an unmissable sight: the view of Lake Val Viola and Val di Campo in neighboring Switzerland. However, the real fun is in the more challenging hikes, made up of technical but at the same time wonderful trails. Starting from the Refuge, you can then undertake true mountaineering climbs or more relaxing walks.
In the winter months it is possible to climb the slopes of the valleys, paying close attention to weather and snow conditions. Among the most popular routes by the many groups of ski mountaineers who reach the Refuge during each winter season are Pizzo Dosdè and Cima Viola whose peaks exceed 3,000 meters as well as the peaks of Lago Spalmo and Saoseo; There are also many routes leading to smaller valleys accessible to less experienced hikers.
