Malga coot is one of the oldest alpine huts in Val Resia and still in operation. Today it is also a farmhouse where you can taste and buy local products and stay overnight in the rooms
Malga Coot is located in the heart of the Julian Prealps Regional Nature Park, in Upper Resia Valley, at the foot of the imposing Mount Canin massif where nature is still unspoiled, with lush forests and unparalleled mountain landscapes.
For the past few years the entire area has been the subject of a redevelopment and conservation project aimed at recovering both alpine pastures and important breeds of domestic cattle and sheep, linked to the rural history of Val Resia. Because of their natural characteristics, the areas around the alpine pasture are considered ideal places of dwelling and refuge for many wild animals, including grouse, partridge,corncrake and numerous mammals.
The agritourism part offers excellent local products made with care and attention and therefore deserving of the "Park Seal of Quality".

BusesThere are a number of local public transport routes via bus in the Resia Valley. For schedules and stops, visit the TPL FVG website.
Train
The nearest useful station is Stazione Carnia, more than 30km away from the starting point of the itinerary.
There are no public transport lines that reach the starting point of the itinerary.
Directions
The Malga Coot farmstead can be easily reached via SP42. From the SS13-Pontebbana in the direction of Tarvisio, turn right in Resiutta and follow the signs for Stolvizza and then Malga Coot.The Malga Coot farmhouse can also be reached from Tarcento, following SR646 in the direction of Uccea. At Uccea, turn left following the signs to Sella Carnizza and then continuing on the same until passing the hamlet of Lischiazze and reaching the intersection with SP42. From here, turn right and continue to Stolvizza and then Malga Coot.
PLEASE NOTE: The Uccea-Sella Carnizza road is often subject to safety work. Before following these directions, check to see if it is open.
