Claridenhütte

The Claridenhütte SAC of the Bachtel section is located at 2453 m on the Altenoren plateau south of Linthal, above the Urnerboden, in the middle of the Glarus Alps near Claridenfirn and Gemsfairenjoch. It is a modern base for hikers, climbers, mountaineers and ski tourers and is also suitable for training courses thanks to its separate theory room. The hut is open during the ski touring season from around the end of February to the end of April and in summer usually from mid-June to the beginning of October; in between, a well-equipped winter room is open. The kitchen offers half-board with a multi-course dinner and a balanced breakfast with regional products, supplemented by simple dishes of the day, coffee and cake depending on the season. Access is exclusively on foot: the approach from the Fisetengrat cable car mountain station via Matt, Geissenstein and Gletscherchopf is popular and takes around three hours. Other routes start in Tierfehd or directly in Linthal and are also part of the Via Glaralpina long-distance hiking route and the Clariden-Planura-Grünhorn-Fridolin hut quartet. The history of the Claridenhütte dates back to 1897; after several new buildings and renovations, the current, energy-efficient hut was extensively rebuilt in 2013/14 and now offers contemporary comfort with smaller rooms, indoor sanitary facilities and a large solar power system.
