Chalet du Langenberg
The Chalet du Langenberg is located at around 1050 m on the south-eastern slope of the Ballon d'Alsace near Sewen. The FFCAM mountain hut with 26 beds is open all year round by reservation.
The Chalet du Langenberg is a mountain hut run by the Club Alpin Français (FFCAM, Belfort section) on the south-eastern slope of the Ballon d'Alsace above Sewen in the southern Vosges massif. Situated at an altitude of around 1050 m, it offers a sweeping view over the Rhine plain, the Black Forest and, on a clear day, as far as the Swiss Alps. The hut is accessible all year round by reservation and is suitable for weekends with family or friends as well as for club courses or training camps. There is no catering; the hut is self-managed. A well-equipped kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge, cooking utensils and crockery is available to groups, as is a large lounge and dining room with space for numerous people. The chalet is located directly on the road to the Ballon d'Alsace, next to the Grand Langenberg ski area and the dense network of marked and unmarked trails, including the GR5, as well as close to climbing rocks, paragliding launch sites and fishing waters. In summer, it is the starting point for hikes and mountain bike tours, while in winter you can quickly reach the alpine and Nordic slopes from here. As mountain weather and conditions can change quickly, travelers should check the current weather conditions, road closures and possible road closures before each tour. The chalet has been owned by CAF Belfort for over 50 years and has since been developed into a simple but comfortable base for mountain sports in the southern part of the Vosges massif.
Rooms
The Chalet du Langenberg has a total of 26 sleeping places in three dormitories with 10, 10 and 6 beds; all beds are bunk beds and equipped with blankets or couettes; you must bring your own sleeping bag or bed linen. The dormitories are simple but well-maintained and ideal for groups, youth camps or club outings. Two shared bathrooms with showers and several separate toilets ensure a high level of comfort after tours or skiing days. There is running water, heating and a fully equipped self-catering kitchen with hotplates, microwave, fridge, crockery and kitchen utensils. The large lounge and dining room can be used for up to around 80 people and is therefore also suitable for seminars and course weekends. Reservations can be made online, access is via a key box at the entrance door; the code is sent with the booking confirmation and the key should be returned to the box after each use. Payment can be made by bank card, check or bank transfer; WLAN is not available. Pets are allowed according to current FFCAM information and should be announced at the time of booking so that all groups can be well organized.Sleeping beds
