The Carschina hut is located at 2236 m below the Sulzfluh near St. Antönien in the Rätikon. The SAC hut of the Rätia section is a stage stop on the Prättigauer Höhenweg.
The Carschina Hut is located at 2236 m at the southern foot of the Sulzfluh in the Rätikon above St. Antönien and belongs to the Rätia section of the Swiss Alpine Club. It is a serviced mountain hut with 62 beds in nine rooms and serves as an important base on the Prättigauer Höhenweg and the Via Alpina, ideal for day hikes and hut tours lasting several days in the Prättigau. Overnight stays are offered with half board; in the evening there is a communal menu with soup, salad and main course at 6.30 pm, breakfast and marching tea in the morning, simple dishes, cakes and Grisons specialties during the day. The hut is usually open from mid-June to mid-October; it will be closed in summer 2025 for extensive renovations and is scheduled to reopen in June 2026. The approach is usually from St. Antönien via Bärgli and Lake Carschina or from parking lot no. 6 Sagaris or from Bärgli with the Alpin bus; depending on the route, you should plan around 800 meters in altitude and 1¾ to 3½ hours walking time. The Carschina hut was built in 1968, extended in 1993 and completely renovated in 2025. Before each tour, you should check the current opening times, trail and weather conditions and any closures.

Rooms

The Carschina Hut offers 62 beds in nine rooms with two to thirteen beds, all equipped with Nordic comforters; the small 2-bed and 4-bed rooms can be booked separately. Your own cotton or silk hut sleeping bags are obligatory; suitable hut sleeping bags can be rented or purchased on site. Hut shoes are worn in the house and are available in the hut. On arrival, you report to the hut team, who allocate your sleeping place and explain the most important hut rules; meal times and night-time rest are observed out of consideration for all guests. There is no longer a winter room, so no overnight stays are possible during the unattended period. Mobile phone reception is usually available on the terrace, electricity is only available to a limited extent, which is why electronic devices should be charged sparingly. Payment is preferably made in cash in Swiss francs, euros are accepted at the daily exchange rate; overnight stays are booked via the hut's online reservation system.

Food and drink

The catering includes half-board with dinner at 6.30 pm, consisting of soup, salad and a hearty main course with a vegetarian option, breakfast and marching tea. During the day, the team serves simple hut dishes, homemade cakes and specialties from the Grisons region, in fine weather also on the sun terrace.
