Capanna Garzonera
Completely renovated in 1988, the cabin has retained the traditional features of an Alpine farmhouse, blending seamlessly into the mountain landscape. It was built using building materials typical of our valleys, including a Piodo roof, stone masonry, and some wooden walls.
Inside, there is a spacious studio with a wood-burning stove and gas heating, as well as a dining hall with a wood-burning stove that provides warmth in any weather. There is a large, particularly sturdy table. At the back is the dormitory with about twenty beds, each equipped with a mattress, pillow, blanket, and duvet.
The lighting is powered by a solar system. The restrooms are located inside. Running water is available year-round; in winter, however, it is only available from the fountain (barring unforeseen circumstances). The cabin is easily accessible, especially in summer, and offers various excursion options for families and beginners.
If you’d like, you can take a beautiful hike to Fusio, Val Lavizzara, Lake Prato, Sassello, Lake Sambuco, and finally Fusio. Thanks to the favorable location of the entire area, ski mountaineers can find good snow conditions until late spring. You can reach the hut via the Airolo-Sasso della Boccia ski lifts. From there, the trail descends to the Ravina alp. Passing through Pian Taiöi, you’ll reach Garzonera.
