Rooms
The Dixhütte offers around 115 beds in multi-bed dormitories with Nordic comforters; you must bring your own sleeping bag and the sanitary facilities are located in the hut building. Reservations are compulsory for overnight stays and are made via the SAC's online system, which allows the occupancy of the various camps to be managed effectively; some rooms are available for groups. There are heated lounges, free WLAN and the option to pay by credit card; other payment methods should be clarified in advance if required. A winter room with 16 seats is available in principle, but is currently closed due to work on the stove, so please pay particular attention to the hut's current information during the cold season. As in all SAC huts, rest periods in the evening and an early start in the morning apply in order to organize the operation of the hut and the alpine tours in the best possible way.Food and drink
In culinary terms, the Dixhütte offers simple but carefully prepared hut cuisine with a regional touch. Specialties include the Dix rösti with bacon, cheese and fried egg, a rich Dix cheese slice and Valais cheese and meat platters made from Val d'Hérens produce, as well as soups, homemade cakes and fondue for groups by prior arrangement. The team also prepares sandwiches and picnics for the next day to order.Sleeping beds

From Le Chargeur, a short path or cable car leads up to the dam wall, where the marked ascent to the Dix hut begins.Get Timetable to destination
Directions
The route from the crown of the Grande Dixence dam is considered the classic approach: from the mountain station, follow the road and galleries along the western shore of Lac des Dix, cross the glacial stream on a bridge at the head of the valley and reach the moraine of the Cheilon glacier on a path or via the steeper Pas du Chat. A well-maintained mountain trail leads over this moraine up to just below the Tête Noire and over a short final ascent to the hut. From the dam wall, the ascent is around 11 km, takes around 4 hours and involves an ascent of around 700 meters; if you walk up to the dam wall from Le Chargeur, you should allow an additional hour.Parking
At the foot of the Grande Dixence dam at Le Chargeur there is a large free outdoor parking lot, which serves as the standard starting point for the ascent to the Dixhütte in summer. From here you can reach the valley station of the cable car and the start of the trail to the dam in just a few minutes; additional parking spaces are available along the access road in busy periods.Coordinates
