The Susanfe hut is located at 2102 m in the secluded Vallon de Susanfe south of the Dents du Midi. The SAC hut of the Yverdon section is a stop-off point on round tours lasting several days.

The Susanfehütte, officially Cabane de Susanfe, is a simple stone hut run by the Swiss Alpine Club in the Vallon de Susanfe above Champéry in the canton of Valais. It stands at 2102 m at the foot of the Haute Cime of the Dents du Midi and belongs to the Yverdon section of the SAC. The main season is generally from June to September, with individual opening days in spring and fall and an unattended shelter for the rest of the year. Homemade syrups, lemonades, local beers and wines are served in the parlor, along with creative mountain dishes cooked on site over a wood fire using local and, where possible, organic produce. The normal ascent starts at Champéry/Grand Paradis and takes around 3½-4 hours via Bonavau and the Pas d'Encel with an elevation gain of around 1160 meters to the hut; other access points are from Barme, Salvan via the Lac de Salanfe and the Col de Susanfe as well as from the Marécottes via the Val d'Emaney. The hut is a stage stop on the Tour des Dents du Midi, the Tour des Dents Blanches and the Tour des Ruans. The Susanfehütte offers 71 sleeping places in dormitories with several beds; outside of the manned period, a shelter with around 20 places is available. Overnight stays are in simple, communal dormitories; half-board is generally provided, consisting of dinner, overnight stay and breakfast, for which advance booking is compulsory. A picnic can be ordered for the day of departure, and there is a small tent site near the hut for guests with their own equipment, by arrangement with the gardienne. Payment is made in Swiss francs, euros or by bank card.

Food and drink

The kitchen mainly uses local and organic products; many dishes are freshly prepared over a wood fire. The team serves creative, typical mountain dishes at lunchtime and a warming hut menu in the evening.

Most hikers start in Champéry and drive to Grand Paradis; from there, the trail leads via Bonavau and the Pas d'Encel to the hut in around 3½-4 hours with an ascent of around 1160 m.
