Louvie hut is perched next to the beautiful Louvie lake, high above Verbier. Run with warmth by Claudia Filliez, it’s a friendly, welcoming stop in beautiful surroundings. We like it better than Mont Fort and it has been our home on this stretch of the Haute Route for many years. Plus it makes the hike to Prafleuri much more reasonable. It’s a simple hut, with dormitory space for 54 people in just 2 private rooms plus dorms of a variety of sizes, a cozy dining room, and a couple of showers.
The dorms come with fluffy comforters, but you are expected to bring your own sleep sheet, pillowcase, and hut shoes, plus your own towel and soap/shampoo for the showers. Hut rules apply here... try to set up your bed before dinner and have everything ready, so you won’t be that person with the light rustling around while everyone else tries to sleep. And as always in huts, carefully fold your blankets in the morning before leaving. Bring a headlamp for moving around after dark, and earplugs are great to have also.
As is common in huts, dinners are communal. Everybody eats at once, often seated with other people that you don’t know. The food is authentic and filling. Breakfast is simpler, bread, cheese, jam and coffee, and like dinner, is all-you-can-eat. There are no restaurants between Louvie and Prafleuri hut, and Louvie does sell to go lunches that can be ordered the night before.
