Magnificent unmanaged facility located on the southern pastures of Mt. Banera. Easily reached in 1½ hours from Uccea, it is an excellent foothold for the ascent to Mt. Guarda
The Casera Caal Shelter is located on the southern slopes of Mt. Banera, a well-equipped structure with stove tables and a loft, opened in summer 2009, it can be reached via the Cai trail No. 733 with an hour and a half walk from the hamlet of Uccea in the municipality of Resia or from Malga Coot (CAI trails 741-733) in about two hours.
Alternatively, with a longer but scenic route, you can get there by walking along the ridge of Mt. Kila from Sella Carnizza in the direction of Nische CAI n.731-733. It represents a good support point for excursions to Mt. Guarda, Kila ridge and the Uccea Valley and inhabited area.
