Die Blackenalp liegt ganz am Ende des Tales Engelberg – und deshalb bereits auf Urner Boden. Die Fehden von früher, wem die Blackenalp nahe beim Surenenpass nun gehöre, haben Engelberg und Uri schon längst beigelegt. Man erreicht die Blackenalp von Uri her über den Surenenpass oder von Engelberg via Stäfeli am sagenumwobenen Wildbach «Stäuber» vorbei. Wer weniger Höhenmeter zu Fuss absolvieren möchte, nimmt die Fürenalpbahn.
