The casera stands in a meadow surrounded by the high peaks of the Julian Pre-Alps. It is in excellent condition and has quality kitchens and beds.
The Casera Rio Nero Shelter is located at an elevation of 870 m in the upper part of the Rio Nero valley surrounded by the high peaks of the Julian Pre-Alps between the peaks of Mount Musi, Mount Lavara and Mount Cuzzer.
The structure, currently used as an always-open shelter on two floors, is in excellent condition and has a kitchen and beds of almost comparable quality to those of the managed shelters.
The beds have new mattresses and blankets; there is a gas stove and stove in the furnished kitchen.
It can be reached from Val Resia via CAI trail No. 703 from Tigo Locality in 2 1/2 hours, or CAI trail No. 703-707 from the hamlet of Lischiazze in about 2 hours.

Structure always open and unmanaged, the maintenance of which is taken care of by the Park Authority with the fundamental contribution of local volunteers and all users!
The casere huts are a valuable asset to our area, providing hikers with a valuable foothold for treks. When in use, it is important not to leave traces of your passage, so we recommend:
- Put out the fire;
- Do not leave food easily accessible to mice and other animals;
- Clean the common areas;
- Take all kinds of waste downstream
