The Bernhardushütte (which is actually more of a house) is located in the heart of the “Heiligenwald” (Holy Forest) within the Roman Catholic pastoral care unit of Forbach-Weisenbach, near the Schwarzenbach Dam and close to the Black Forest National Park.
The Bernhardushütte reopened in May 2020 following extensive renovations.
There are 30 beds available: On the upper floor, there are two dormitories, one with 14 beds and the other with 12. On the ground floor, there are two dormitories (e.g., for supervisors), each with two beds (bunk beds).
The ground floor features a large common room, a self-catering kitchen, and restroom facilities.
Outside, there is a covered porch with tables and benches, a cozy barbecue area, and a large, gently sloping meadow for running around or playing ball. The entire area is surrounded by plenty of forest.
The Bernhardushütte is located within the municipal boundaries of Forbach in the northern Black Forest
The nearest major city is Baden-Baden. Geographic coordinates of the Bernhardushütte: 48°40’02.1″N 8°18’31.2″E

Public transport
The nearest bus stop, “Schwarzenbachtalsperre,” is about 3.5 km from the Bernhardushütte and can be reached via KVV (Karlsruher Verkehrs-Verbund) bus line 263.
It takes about 45 minutes to walk from the Schwarzenbach bus stop to the Bernhardushütte, which is approximately 3.5 km away: First, cross the dam to the other side of the reservoir, then turn left and walk 2 km along the shore of the lake. You’ll then come to an intersection where you leave the shore and head up a gentle slope. Continue along this path for about 1 km (more or less following the Seebach stream) until you reach another intersection. Here, turn right. The trail makes a sharp turn to the right, so that you’re essentially walking in the opposite direction from where you came. After about 300 meters, you’ll see a large meadow on the left with the Bernhardushütte.
Directions
The Bernhardushütte can only be reached by car or minibus via private, gravel forest roads. The access roads are not suitable for large tour buses. Access to and from the hut is permitted only on the routes designated by the hut management in cooperation with the forestry department.
To limit car traffic in the forest to what is absolutely necessary, a maximum of 6 cars may access the lodge per stay. In addition, car trips must be limited to the arrival on the first day and the departure on the last day.
