The Alzasca Hut (Capanna Alzasca) is located at 1734 m in the Val Soladino above the Maggia Valley. The hut of the SAC Locarno section is usually manned from the end of May to the end of October.
The Alzasca hut, also known as Capanna Alzasca, is located at 1734 m in the Val Soladino (Vallemaggia) in Ticino and belongs to the Locarno section of the SAC. It is serviced during the warm season; the SAC tour portal lists the period 25.05.2025 to 24.10.2025 as a published example for 2025, and a shelter is also open all year round. Drinks, simple meals and half-board are offered during the period of maintenance; vegetarian meals are possible by prior arrangement. The usual starting points are places with bus connections: from Someo it is around 5 hours and around 1500 meters in altitude, from Gresso 4 hours 30 minutes with around 1250 meters in altitude, from Cevio around 5 hours with around 1550 meters in altitude; the SAC also lists the ascent from Vergeletto as a normal route with 5 hours 30 minutes and 1400 meters in altitude. The hut is suitable as a base for tours to the Alzasca and Sascola mountain lakes, for crossings to neighboring huts and for excursions towards Pizzo Alzasca. Always check the current conditions, weather and any restrictions before setting off. The hut was built in 1955 and renovated in 1997; it was created from two former alpine buildings and is run by volunteers.
