Die Alpkäserei Ober Gisleralp ist eine der wenigen Privatalpen im Kanton Uri. Sie ist jeweils von Mitte Juni bis Mitte September bestossen.
Auf der Sonnenterrasse des Schächentals breitet sich die Ober Gisleralp zwischen 1700 und 1900 m ü. M. aus. Die Gisleralpen sind auch Schauplatz von verschiedenen Urner Sagen. So soll zum Beispiel einst ein Senn auf der Gisleralp zufällig mit seinem Gehstock einen Knochen aufgespiesst haben. Weil dieser in der Beiz plötzlich zu bluten begann, konnte der Senn einer Straftat überführt werden: Vor 30 Jahren hatte er einen Handknab auf der Alp zu Tode gequält.
