Die Alp Ober Balm liegt am Schächentaler Höhenweg. Dieser Wanderweg führt entlang der nördlichen Talflanke vom Klausenpass bis Eggbergen. Das Alpgebiet erstreckt sich auf 1780 bis 1850 m ü. M. Die Alp ist Oberstafel für fünf Betriebe mit insgesamt fast 100 Kühen. Zwei Älpler verarbeiten die Milch auf Ober Balm zu Käse.
