Toni Matter hat die Alp Langenboden in den 1980er Jahren übernommen und sömmert dort zusammen mit seiner Frau Esther 17 Kühe. Gute Alpmilch sollte nicht unter gewöhnliche Milch gemischt werden, finden die Beiden – und produzieren daraus deshalb feinsten Alpkäse und Alpraclette.

Die Alp Langenboden liegt auf der Sonnenseite Engelbergs auf fast 1600 Metern über Meer ganz in der Nähe der Bergstation der Brunnibahn – über ihr thront der Rigidalstock. Dadurch ist auch schon gesagt, wie man diese Alpkäserei am bequemsten erreicht: per Luftseilbahn. Wer sich den Käse sportlich verdienen möchte, läuft auf einem der diversen Wanderwegen von Engelberg aufs Ristis oder fährt über die Schwand mit dem Bike hoch.
