Die Gossalp ist der höchstgelegene Unterstafel vor dem Oberstafel Oberalp. Sie liegt auf rund 1400 m ü. M. Nachbaralpen sind Altrüti und Hütten. Von St. Jakob im Grosstal aus ist die Alp auf der Strasse in Richtung Oberalp zu erreichen. Im Sommer beheimatet die Gossalp drei Alpbetriebe, die alle Käse produzieren.

Die drei Alpbetriebe stellen vor allem den klassischen Alpkäse her. Eine Älplerfamilie produziert zudem Ziegenkäse, Brat- und Alpbutter sowie Rahm und Joghurt.
