Das Alpgebiet Bolgen liegt nördlich von Isenthal. Es breitet sich zwischen zirka 1400 und 2200 m ü. M. am südlichen Abhang des Schwalmis aus. Das Alpgebiet umfasst fünf Stäfel: Lauweli, Unter- und Oberbolgen, Seelenen und Schwalmis. Auf den Weiden der Stäfel sömmert eine Älplerfamilie das Vieh – 20 Kühe und rund 60 Rinder. Die Familie wohnt und käst auf Lauweli (unterhalb Gitschenen) und auf Oberbolgen, am Wanderweg zur Klewenalp.
