Unterhalb des Urirotstocks, auf gut 1200 m ü. M., liegt Altrüti. Die Strasse zur Oberalp führt an der Alp vorbei. Von St. Jakob bei Isenthal bis zur Alp Altrüti sind es zirka zwei Kilometer.

Altrüti ist Unterstafel für zwei Alp­betriebe. Die Älpler verbringen zwischen 22 und 26 Tage im Sommer auf der Alp. Einer von ihnen käst auf Altrüti.

Zwei Drittel der Alpkäseproduktion verkauft die Familie direkt, ein Drittel geht zur Genossenschaft Urner Alpkäseproduzenten.
