The Albergue Universitario is a comfortable hostel with rooms for 2, 4, 6, and 9 people. Facilities include showers, central heating, a beautiful dining room, a comfortable and cozy lounge with a TV, and a bar with a cafeteria. The building is smoke-free. English is spoken.
The building belongs to the University of Granada but is open to the public year-round. The author was unable to determine how busy the building is during the ski season. The building is accessible by bus from Granada.
From the lodge’s terrace, there is a beautiful view of the Granada plain and the Sierra Nevada, particularly the impressive north face of Pico de la Veleta.

Accessibility
by carPublic transport
Outside of ski season, there is only one Linea Bonal bus in the morning that goes directly from the Estación de Autobuses in Granada to the Albergue, and only one bus in the opposite direction in the late afternoon. Tickets for the one-way trip must be purchased at the bus station ticket counter; return tickets are available from the bus driver.Since taxis are inexpensive in Spain (except for airport transfers), you can also take a taxi. The ride from Granada takes about 45 minutes. You should ask the taxi driver for the fare in advance. In the summer, taxis are available in Monachil (Tel. 0034958500677), Cumbres Verdes (T. 0034692108416), and La Zubia (T. 0034608058709) to the Albergue Universitario.
There are no local buses in the summer.
Directions
From the A-44 (Jaén-Granada-Motril), take Exit 132 south of Granada onto the A-30 (Ronda Sur) toward Sierra Nevada; at exit 5B, turn right onto the A-395 toward Sierra Nevada. Do not drive into the very large parking lot of the Pradollano ski resort; instead, continue left uphill until you reach the Albergue Universitario. The Albergue is located above Pradollano.Parking
