Os Abrigos são antigos palheiros que foram reconstruídos utilizando métodos tradicionais e materiais ecológicos, para dar apoio à Grande Rota de Santa Maria e permitir fazer o trilho na totalidade.

O último dia é passado no Abrigo do Raposo, que tem o nome da baía em frente. A partir de Junho, o pôr-do- sol entra literalmente pela janela. Aventure-se num pequeno passeio nocturno e vá até à encosta escutar o canto bizarro dos cagarros! Por vezes os cagarros voam mesmo por cima do Abrigo e fazem razias às janelas!
