Our hike crosses the karst fairyland of the Silica Plateau along an easy, gently undulating path. From the inflow, the plateau Papverme Lake, we follow on the surface the path of water striving underground to the Sajó valley outlet and the Black Creek surfacing in the mountain alder grove. Walking on the bumpy plateau ridge, we glimpse its mysterious underground world at the prominent collapse of the Silica Ice Cave and at the opened section of the Gombaszög Cave at the plateau’s escarpment. Both karst cavities are unique and unparalleled, worth visiting personally to appreciate their monumental yet fragile wonders.
